{"id":3410,"date":"2022-04-30T15:25:10","date_gmt":"2022-04-30T22:25:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/americanootoday.com\/?p=3410"},"modified":"2022-04-30T15:25:14","modified_gmt":"2022-04-30T22:25:14","slug":"a-modern-bulkhead-flat","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/americanootoday.com\/?p=3410","title":{"rendered":"A modern bulkhead flat"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>A model I finished some time ago, but have yet to post about, is this modern bulkhead flat, scratch built in American OO by (I believe) Pierre Bourassa.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The Canadian roads had and have a variety of bulkhead flats in service, particularly for use in pulpwood and lumber service. I believe, based on Internet research, that the prototype of this 58\u2019 car is of a general design built 1973-77 for roads including BCOL, CNR, and DW&amp;P.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"640\" height=\"480\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanootoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/bulkhead-flat-NOKL.jpg?resize=640%2C480&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3411\" srcset=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanootoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/bulkhead-flat-NOKL.jpg?resize=1024%2C768&amp;ssl=1 1024w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanootoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/bulkhead-flat-NOKL.jpg?resize=300%2C225&amp;ssl=1 300w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanootoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/bulkhead-flat-NOKL.jpg?resize=768%2C576&amp;ssl=1 768w, https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/americanootoday.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/04\/bulkhead-flat-NOKL.jpg?w=1280&amp;ssl=1 1280w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 640px) 100vw, 640px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Pierre one way or another got inspired to build this very Canadian car. It came to me without decals and on the nice Johann converted HO roller bearing trucks. I believe what happened was that Pierre got stuck at that point, as did I for a long while. He built himself into a corner a couple ways &#8212; the sides have very little room for decals, and then you have to come up with something plausible as well.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Finally, after much pondering, I figured out that the NOKL (Northwest Oklahoma Railroad) had a series of these cars that this model would make a good stand in for, so I worked out decals from parts of multiple sets.
