In the book I put photos of every example car that I had which carried original Scale-Craft decals. And periodically I find a few more, for example recently this NWX reefer.

Collecting these models

Before getting to them, I’d just mention again that, to my mind, these should be collectible models. How many people out there are chasing down variations of Lionel or whatever? These were kits, yes, but with the original Scale-Craft decals, applied nicely, these are neat finds. And it will be nearly impossible to collect all the versions listed in the catalogs today.

The NP tank car

This one is a little rough. I’m not convinced the lettering arrangement is correct. But, it’s my only example of this.

The SP caboose

This one is a real nice car. If you go to the catalogs, this one is illustrated there with a slightly different lettering location. I’m liking the choice the builder made, they built the car neatly, and the “new” date is a nice detail as well.

I’ve got a couple dedicated boxes now of just S-C cars with original decals. Something to give thought to as you work over your collections.
