A Pair of Circus Flats in American OO

One of a number of unlikely American OO products produced by Myron P. Davis was this circus flat car. I featured two black ones in a post years ago (here). and today we look at orange examples.

Circus train models in any scale are only going to interest a small subset of modelers, and they must have interested Myron P. Davis. I’m not sure where I got these, but I do know I got them in separate purchases. They both came to me on unpainted Nason Vulcan trucks with 3-rail trucks, and with the unusual stamped brass coupler.

The bodies are aluminum castings. How many of these he produced is a guess but there could have been as few as a dozen made in the mid-1950s.

These two cars are also seen in my book, but had been sitting on my workbench waiting for a bit of work for quite a while. Both cars are now (finally!) on good trucks and ready for operation. My guess is that Davis built these models (and the black models in the other post) himself. They would look neat in a shelf display with circus wagons, if that was your interest. They are certainly unique vintage items to keep your eyes peeled for.
